Gebrüder Weiss expands its location in Memmingen

Logistics expert reacts to increasing demand / existing handling facility expanded / two new warehouses for even more logistics capacity
Lauterach / Memmingen, 3 November 2016. The transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss has invested 4 million euros into its location in Memmingen and expanded it by over 5,000 m2 logistics area. The reason: increased customer requirements for warehouse capacity and logistics services. "For a while, we have met the increased volume of orders by renting additional external warehouses.
But since we aim to keep our work processes as efficient and lightweight as possible for the benefit of our customers, we ultimately decided to expand our location," says Anton Hagg, Branch Manager at Gebrüder Weiss Memmingen.
Larger, more flexible, more secure
During the six-month building phase, the existing handling facility was increased by a total of 3,000 m2. Additionally, two new warehouses were constructed, each with an area of 1,200 m2. These are completely insulated and can be equipped with (high) storage racks if necessary. "We now once again have enough space to meet various customer needs – whether these involve standard high rack items or bulky goods.
Time-wasting transport to various external warehouses is no longer necessary, and all employees work in one place again," explains Anton Hagg. As part of the expansion and new build, additional car parking spaces and social areas were also built for the staff. There is also an innovation in terms of security: the whole area is now monitored by around 300 cameras, and all warehouses are access-protected using a chip system.
